Gestapro Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Mifepristone and Misoprostol which causes abortion. Mifepristone blocks the effects of progesterone a natural female hormone that is needed for the pregnancy to sustain. Without this hormone the lining of the uterus (womb) breaks down as it does during a menstrual period and stops the growth of the pregnancy. Misoprostol increases contractions of the uterus to cause abortion.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness. It does not affect fertility. Use contraception to avoid pregnancy. Take it no later than 63 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. Take Misoprostol 36 – 48 hours after taking Mifepristone. Rest for at least 3 hours after taking the Misoprostol. Take it only as prescribed by the doctor.
Gestapro Tablet is a medical product that contains two active ingredients: Mifepristone and Misoprostol. It is used for the medical termination of pregnancy, specifically for pregnancies up to 63 days old (counting from the first day of the last menstrual period).
Gestapro Tablet should only be taken under the guidance of a doctor. The treatment begins with Mifepristone, followed by Misoprostol after 36-48 hours. However, it's essential to note that Misoprostol should only be administered in a supervised setting, such as a clinic or hospital, and under the care of a gynecologist.
After taking Mifepristone, you may experience vaginal bleeding. Following the administration of Misoprostol, you might experience abdominal cramping, diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and vaginal bleeding within 4 hours. It is recommended to stay at a clinic or healthcare center for at least 3 hours after taking this medicine. Additionally, your gynecologist may perform blood tests or ultrasonography 14 days post-Mifepristone to confirm the termination of pregnancy.
Studies have shown that Gestapro Tablet does not impair women's fertility. Your chances of getting pregnant in the future are equivalent to those who have not used this medication.
Common side effects associated with Gestapro Tablet include abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, uterine contractions, pelvic pain, and shivering. If you experience heavy vaginal bleeding or any other concerning symptoms, please consult your gynecologist.
