Mild and temporary irritation in the ear
Gentle Ear Drop is a combination of four medicines: Gentamicin, Clotrimazole, Betamethasone, and Lidocaine. Gentamicin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Clotrimazole is an antifungal which stops the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic which blocks pain signals from the nerves to brain thereby decreasing pain sensation.
Do not touch the tip of the dropper to prevent contamination. Stop using the medicine and inform your doctor if you notice a rash, burning sensation, or allergic reaction. Avoid swimming and make sure the infected area does not get wet while bathing. Avoid getting it in your eyes or mouth. If this happens, rinse with water immediately.
