Safety Information
Side Effects
Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medicine. If it occurs, make sure your child drinks plenty of water. Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue (coating of Genpure MS Syrup on tongue) after taking Genpure MS Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Genpure MS Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
How it works
Genpure MS Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients. While two of its ingredients, namely ofloxacin and metronidazole, are antibiotics, simethicone is a gas-absorbing agent that improves gastric tolerability of the combination. The antibiotic ingredients interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA. This kills the infection-causing bacteria, preventing its growth and stopping the infection. On the other hand, Simethicone binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem. By doing so, it aids in the removal of gases and provides relief in stomach pain and bloating.
Quick Tips
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Genpure MS Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Never use this medicine for the common cold and flu as they are caused by viruses and Genpure MS Syrup treats only bacterial infections. Discontinue Genpure MS Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.

Frequently asked questions
What information should I disclose to my healthcare provider before administering Genpure MS Syrup to my child?
It is crucial to inform your healthcare provider about any underlying medical conditions in your child, including: heart disease, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergic reactions to sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, and genetic disorders involving blood vessels. This is because Genpure MS Syrup might worsen these existing conditions and increase the risk of complications.
Can I combine Genpure MS Syrup with other medications like cough and cold medicines?
No, do not give Genpure MS Syrup alongside cough and cold medicines. One of its active ingredients can interact with alcohol-containing medications like cough syrups, potentially leading to a disulfiram reaction, which causes symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, etc.
What should I do if my child accidentally takes an overdose of Genpure MS Syrup?
While an extra dose of Genpure MS Syrup is unlikely to cause harm, it's important to contact a doctor immediately. Overdose may result in unwanted side effects like seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe any such symptoms.
What should I do if my child doesn't show improvement after taking Genpure MS Syrup for the prescribed duration?
If your child doesn't experience improvement after taking Genpure MS Syrup for the recommended time, it might indicate that the medication isn't effective in treating the underlying condition. In this case, consult with your healthcare provider who may prescribe a different antibiotic with greater efficacy against the specific bacteria responsible for the infection.
Can I take other medications alongside Genpure MS Syrup?
Always inform your doctor about all medications your child is currently taking before starting Genpure MS Syrup. It is also crucial to seek medical advice from a healthcare professional before administering any new medication to your child.
How should Genpure MS Syrup be stored?
Store Genpure MS Syrup at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Children may accidentally consume medicines if they are not kept safely out of their reach. Ensure that all medication is stored in a child-proof location.
Can I vaccinate my child while on treatment with Genpure MS Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received them. However, it's best to consult your doctor before administering any medication to your child during the vaccination process. Once your child recovers from the infection, the vaccine can be given.
My child has been passing red-brown urine since starting Genpure MS Syrup. Is this normal?
Genpure MS Syrup contains metronidazole as an active ingredient, which can cause red-brown urine in some cases. This side effect is not considered to be harmful and will typically subside once the medication is discontinued after treatment.
