Frequently asked questions
What is Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder used for?
Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder is an antifungal medication. It's used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm (a skin infection that causes a red scaly rash), athlete’s foot, fungal nappy rash, and fungal sweat rash. It can also help relieve irritation of the vulva (external thrush) and irritation occurring at the end of the penis which may be associated with thrush.
What fungi does Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder treat?
Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder is effective against Trichophyton species, which cause ringworm infection, athlete's foot, and jock itch. It also works on the yeast known as Candida, a common cause of vaginal thrush (an overgrowth of yeast called Candida albicans).
When can I expect to start seeing improvements after using Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder?
You should see improvement in your symptoms, such as itching or soreness, within a few days of starting treatment. However, the signs of infection may take longer to disappear, like redness and scaling. Do not stop applying this medicine before you are advised to do so by your doctor, even if you feel better.
What precautions should I take when using Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder?
Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder. If you are applying it for an infected foot, make sure to thoroughly wash and dry your feet before and after application, especially between the toes. Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder should be applied thinly and evenly onto the affected areas, two or three times a day.
How long should I use Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder and can I stop it if my symptoms disappear?
The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection. In general, treatment is continued for one month for tinea infections, and at least 15 days for Candida infections. Do not stop using Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder without consulting your doctor because stopping it before you are advised to do so can risk the infection returning.
Is Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder safe for children?
Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder is safe for children when given in the correct dosage and only for as long as prescribed by a doctor. Minor side effects may occur, but usually they are not bothersome.
What measures can help speed up recovery?
Keep the affected skin areas clean and dry but avoid excessive rubbing. Itching is common in the early stages of infection and will subside once your treatment has begun and you have started to heal. Don't share towels, bath mats, etc., with others as this can spread the infection.
Does Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder affect contraception?
Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder might decrease the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives like diaphragms and condoms. If you are using it on your vulva or penis, you should use alternative methods of birth control for at least 5 days after using Fungoza 1% Dusting Powder.
