Introduction
Fosmox CA Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Fosmox CA Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Fosmox CA Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Fosmox CA Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Fosmox CA Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Fosmox CA Dry Syrup to your child. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Fosmox CA Dry Syrup?
Inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Fosmox CA Dry Syrup. It's crucial to consult with your child's physician regarding possible interactions between the medications or substances.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Fosmox CA Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally don't interfere with the components of vaccines, and they do not cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received them. However, it is recommended to delay vaccination until your child has recovered from the illness. Once your child is feeling better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Fosmox CA Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically monitoring kidney and liver function during long-term treatment with this medication may be recommended by your doctor. This is to ensure a continued check of your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Fosmox CA Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a dosage exceeding the prescribed amount can increase the likelihood of side effects. If you experience an increased severity of your child's symptoms, please consult with your physician for further evaluation.
Can I stop giving Fosmox CA Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue this medication without consulting your physician. It is crucial to complete the prescribed course even if you feel better as there could be residual benefits from the medicine.
Can the use of Fosmox CA Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Fosmox CA Dry Syrup may trigger diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that fights harmful bacteria. The medication can also disrupt the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. Encourage your child to consume plenty of fluids if experiencing this side effect. If diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), seek medical advice from a healthcare professional before administering additional medications.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral infections do not lead to bacterial infections. It's crucial to avoid self-medicating with antibiotics when there is no indication of a bacterial infection. Consult your physician for proper diagnosis and treatment.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically indicate a need for antibiotics. It's normal for mucus to thicken and change color during a common cold, often lasting for 7-10 days. If you have any concerns, consult your physician.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing or skin rashes), gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). While rare, these symptoms warrant expert intervention.
