Fortibile 150 Tablet can be taken with water, milk, or food. When prescribed for dissolving gallstones, it is typically taken once daily in the evening. Fortibile 150 Tablet is generally considered a safe and effective medication. However, like all medications, it may have potential side effects. Some common side effects include diarrhea. If you experience diarrhea, your doctor may adjust your dosage or, in severe cases, discontinue treatment. Additionally, long-term use of this medicine could potentially affect liver enzyme levels. Your doctor will monitor these levels regularly during your treatment.
Fortibile 150 Tablet acts on the liver and concentrates in bile produced by the liver. This action suppresses the liver's production and secretion of cholesterol, thereby reducing cholesterol levels within the bile. Furthermore, it inhibits the intestines from absorbing bile salts and cholesterol. Reduced cholesterol saturation in the bile ultimately leads to a gradual dissolution of gallstones, resulting in decreased size and eventual complete breakdown. The medicine also protects liver cells by increasing bile flow through the liver.
There is a possibility of weight gain with Fortibile 150 Tablet, although it is not common. This risk may be increased in individuals who have liver disease associated with chronic bile stasis within the liver's small bile ducts. In such cases, bile cannot flow freely from the liver to the intestines. Weight gain can vary depending on the individual and their medical condition. It’s important to consult your doctor if you observe weight changes while taking this medication.
Avoid taking antacid preparations without consulting your doctor as they can reduce the effectiveness of Fortibile 150 Tablet. You should also refrain from medications such as cholestyramine or colestipol, as these may affect Fortibile 150 Tablet's efficacy. Consult your doctor to determine appropriate time intervals for taking these medicines in conjunction with Fortibile 150 Tablet. In addition, avoid taking oral contraceptives, estrogenic hormones, and blood cholesterol-lowering agents such as clofibrate, as they might increase the chances of developing gallstones and counteract the intended effect.
