Ofloxacin (50mg)
Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children.
Oral Suspension
Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic. It interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Giving more than the recommended dose of Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you think your child has taken too much medicine, please contact a doctor immediately. Symptoms like seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeats) may indicate an overdose and require urgent medical attention.
If your child doesn't show any improvement despite completing the treatment with Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension, it could mean that the medicine isn't fully effective in fighting the bacteria causing the infection. In this case, consult a doctor. They might prescribe a different antibiotic with stronger action against specific bacterial strains.
Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension can interact with some other medications or substances. Always tell your doctor about all the medicines your child is taking before starting this medication. Additionally, consult your doctor for guidance on giving any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics usually don't interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children after vaccination. However, it is generally advisable not to vaccinate a child while they are still undergoing antibiotic therapy for a specific illness. Only consult your doctor after your child recovers from their illness before giving them a vaccine.
Before administering Flyflox 50mg Oral Suspension to your child, inform the healthcare provider if they have a history of heart disease, blood vessel disorders, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sun sensitivity), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions may be aggravated by this medication, increasing the risk of complications.
