Ofloxacin (50mg) + Metronidazole (120mg) + Simethicone (10mg)
Floxfin MS Syrup is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Syrup
Floxfin MS Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients. While two of its ingredients, namely ofloxacin and metronidazole are antibiotics, simethicone is a gas-absorbing agent that improves gastric tolerability of the combination. The antibiotic ingredients interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA. This kills the infection-causing bacteria, preventing its growth and stopping the infection. On the other hand, Simethicone binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem. By doing so, it aids in the removal of gases and provides relief in stomach pain and bloating.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Floxfin MS Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
No common side effects listed.
Consuming alcohol while taking Floxfin MS Syrup may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medicine. If it occurs, make sure your child drinks plenty of water. Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue (coating of Floxfin MS Syrup on tongue) after taking Floxfin MS Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Floxfin MS Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. No, it is not recommended to administer Floxfin MS Syrup with cough and cold medicines, as one of its ingredients can interact with alcohol-containing medicines, leading to a disulfiram reaction, causing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, and others.
While an extra dose of Floxfin MS Syrup is unlikely to cause harm, it is crucial to consult a doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose. Overdose may result in unwanted side effects, including seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
If your child does not show improvement after taking Floxfin MS Syrup for the recommended duration, it may indicate that the antibiotic is ineffective against the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, consult your child's doctor, who may prescribe an alternative antibiotic with higher efficacy against the disease-causing bacteria. In some cases, the antibiotic may need to be administered via IV route in a hospital setting.
