Flora 50mg Tablet is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also a part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. The medicine is available in tablet form and is used to target various parts of the body, including the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Flora 50mg Tablet is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Flora 50mg Tablet as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Flora 50mg Tablet and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Flora 50mg Tablet to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Taking an extra dose of Flora 50mg tablet is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you think your child may have overdosed, immediately contact a healthcare professional or emergency service. Overdose can lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and irregular heartbeat (palpitations). Seek immediate medical attention for any of these symptoms.
If your child doesn't show improvement after taking Flora 50mg Tablet as per the prescribed dosage, it may indicate that the medication isn't effectively combating the underlying infection. In this case, consult a healthcare professional for a possible change in treatment. Your doctor might recommend alternative antibiotics with greater efficacy against the specific bacteria causing the illness.
It's important to discuss any additional medications or substances your child is currently using with a healthcare professional before starting Flora 50mg Tablet. It is also crucial to consult your doctor regarding any other medication you intend to administer to your child while on treatment.
Most vaccines do not interfere with the ingredients in Flora 50mg tablet or cause adverse reactions in children who are receiving it. However, it's generally recommended to wait until your child has recovered from the illness before giving them a vaccination. Once they feel better, the doctor can administer the vaccine.

These conditions might be affected by Flora 50mg tablet and could lead to complications.
