Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Fixtol 50mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic that works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or become resistant or cause another infection. Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Fixtol 50mg Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
Giving an extra dose of Fixtol 50mg Dry Syrup is unlikely to be harmful. However, if you believe your child has received a larger amount than prescribed, contact a doctor immediately. Overdosing may cause adverse effects and worsen your child’s condition.
Serious side effects include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergies, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. In case of these or other severe side effects, consult your child’s doctor immediately.
It's crucial to inform a doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Fixtol 50mg Dry Syrup. Consult your doctor before giving any medication to your child, as certain combinations may interact.
Antibiotics rarely interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received a vaccine. However, children under antibiotic therapy should not receive vaccines until they have recovered from the illness. Once your child feels better, they can get vaccinated.
Periodic kidney and liver function tests should be conducted by the doctor to monitor your child’s condition while on long-term treatment.
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily mean a bacterial infection is present. During a common cold, mucus may thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. These symptoms usually last for 7 to 10 days.
In most cases, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics for viral infections is generally unnecessary and may lead to side effects without benefitting your child’s health. Only consult with your doctor after the illness has resolved or before starting treatment for a potential bacterial infection.
Children often have sensitive stomachs and may experience upset stomach while taking antibiotics. Antibiotics can also disrupt the balance of good bacteria in the gut, increasing your child's risk of developing other infections. If your child is experiencing diarrhea, do not stop the medication course without consulting a doctor. Call your doctor for advice on adjusting the dosage.
Yes, irregular antibiotic use or misuse can contribute to bacterial resistance. Resistant bacteria are no longer affected by antibiotics and may result in reinfection.
