Oral Suspension
Fiximac-O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine designed to treat various bacterial infections in children, such as those affecting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bones, joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It is also effective in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents. The medication should be given orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after meals. If a stomach upset occurs, it is better to administer it with meals. The dosage and duration depend on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the child's age and body weight. Common side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergic reactions, which usually subside as the child's body adapts to the medicine. It is crucial to share the child's complete medical history with the doctor for appropriate dose adjustments and overall treatment planning.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Fiximac-O Dry Syrup is to be taken with food.
Fiximac-O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Fiximac-O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Fiximac-O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
