Dry Syrup
Introduction
Fexim OF Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Directions for Use
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Fexim OF Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
How it works
Fexim OF Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or become resistant or cause another infection. Do not give Fexim OF Dry Syrup to your child for conditions like common cold and flu, which are caused by viruses. Only give Fexim OF Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Frequently asked questions
What if I accidentally give my child too much of Fexim OF Dry Syrup?
Giving your child more than the recommended dose is unlikely to cause serious harm. However, it's important to remain vigilant because large doses can lead to unwanted side effects and potentially worsen your child's condition. If you believe your child has received an overdose of Fexim OF Dry Syrup, consult a doctor immediately.
Are there any severe side effects associated with Fexim OF Dry Syrup use?
Possible serious side effects include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergies, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. If you observe these side effects after your child's Fexim OF Dry Syrup treatment, seek immediate guidance from a doctor.
Can I give my child other medications simultaneously with Fexim OF Dry Syrup?
It is important to tell your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Fexim OF Dry Syrup. Furthermore, consult a medical professional before giving any medication to your child unless specifically advised by their doctor.
Can I get my child vaccinated while they are on Fexim OF Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically don't interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is important to delay the vaccine administration until the child recovers from their illness and the infection clears up. Once your child feels better, the doctor can schedule the vaccination.
Does Fexim OF Dry Syrup affect a child's digestion?
Children often experience digestive upset due to antibiotics. Antibiotics can disrupt the balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut, increasing the risk of diarrhea. If your child develops diarrhea while on Fexim OF Dry Syrup, do not stop the medication without consulting their doctor. They may adjust the dosage based on individual circumstances.
Can Fexim OF Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?
Yes, bacteria can become resistant to Fexim OF Dry Syrup due to factors like inconsistent dosing, unnecessary re-use of the medication, and misuse of the medicine. When this happens, the bacteria are no longer killed by antibiotics, leading to a greater likelihood of infection.
What should I tell the doctor before administering Fexim OF Dry Syrup to my child?
It's crucial to inform your doctor if your child is experiencing any pre-existing medical conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because these conditions might be exacerbated by Fexim OF Dry Syrup and could lead to complications.
