How it works
Fenlong-MR Liniment is a combination of five medicines. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. Capsaicin desensitizes the nerve endings which alleviates the pain. Rubefacients increase the blood flow of the affected area to give a warm and soothing feeling. Mephenesin is a muscle relaxant that works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm without reduction in strength. Camphor belongs to the class of medicines called rubefacients/antitussives that increases blood flow and local temperature of the affected area which suppresses and temporarily relieves pain sensations. Menthol is an organic compound extracted from peppermint oil that activates the cold sensing chemical messenger which gives a cooling effect.
Quick Tips
Use it as per dose and duration suggested by the doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages as these may increase the risk of side effects. Do not apply to broken, diseased, infected, inflamed or irritated skin, or to open wounds. Avoid getting it in the eyes, mouth or nose. Rinse with cold water if you accidentally get it in these areas. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
