How it works
Euclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Euclav Dry Syrup?
Euclav Dry Syrup may interact with certain medications. Consult your child's doctor before combining any medicine, including over-the-counter products or supplements. Your doctor can advise on appropriate dosage and potential interactions.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Euclav Dry Syrup?
Generally, vaccines are not expected to interfere with the use of antibiotics like Euclav Dry Syrup. However, children should wait until they are fully recovered from any infection before vaccination.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Euclav Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Depending on the duration and the individual's health, your child's doctor might recommend regular monitoring for kidney and liver function. This helps to ensure their overall well-being.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Euclav Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher dose of this medication is not advised. It might increase the likelihood of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, contact their doctor for further evaluation.
Can I stop giving Euclav Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop administering this medication until you have finished the complete course. Symptoms may improve before full recovery; therefore, continue using the medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
Can the use of Euclav Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Euclav Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria in the body. This medication may also affect the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and cause diarrhea. If there are any concerns, ensure your child drinks plenty of water or other fluids.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most cases do not require antibiotics as viruses typically clear on their own with time. However, bacterial infections can develop during the course of a viral illness and might benefit from antibiotic treatment when prescribed by a doctor.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
It's normal for mucus to become thicker and change color in the course of a common cold, often transitioning from clear to yellow or green. Usually, this will resolve within 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical help if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), severe gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea with blood or mucus), or signs of liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Though rare, these symptoms warrant professional care.
