Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to take Espra 20mg Tablet?

Typically, Espra 20mg Tablet should be taken once a day, ideally in the morning. If you need to take it twice daily, consider taking one dose in the morning and another in the evening. Remember to swallow the tablets whole, without chewing or crushing them, and take them at least an hour before meals with some water.

Can I take Espra 20mg Tablet with domperidone?

Yes, it is safe to combine Espra 20mg Tablet with domperidone. In fact, a fixed-dose combination of these two medications is available. Domperidone enhances gut motility, while Espra 20mg Tablet reduces stomach acid production, making this duo highly effective for treating reflux esophagitis associated with acidity and heartburn.

Can I take antacids along with Espra 20mg Tablet?

Yes, you can take antacids alongside Espra 20mg Tablet. For optimal results, consider taking them at least two hours apart.

Can I take Espra 20mg Tablet for a long term?

What are the long term side effects of Espra 20mg Tablet?

Prolonged use of Espra 20mg Tablet, especially exceeding three months, may lead to low magnesium levels in the blood. This can cause fatigue, confusion, dizziness, muscle twitches, or irregular heartbeat. If taken for more than a year, there is an increased risk of bone fractures, stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency might result in anemia, causing symptoms like fatigue, weakness, pale skin, palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence (gas), or nerve problems such as numbness, tingling, and difficulty walking.

Can I stop taking Espra 20mg Tablet if I feel better?

If you've been taking Espra 20mg Tablet for a long time, abruptly stopping it may worsen symptoms by increasing acid production. Discuss any dosage changes or plans to discontinue with your doctor.

Can Espra 20mg Tablet cause weight gain?

Weight gain has been reported in less than 1% of patients taking Espra 20mg Tablet, although the exact cause is unknown. One possible explanation is increased food intake after symptoms are relieved. Lifestyle modifications like proper diet and exercise can help prevent weight gain.

Is Espra 20mg Tablet safe to use?
