Eptico D Eye/Ear Drops is a combination of three medicines: Chloramphenicol, Dexamethasone and Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye/ear by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye/ear red, swollen, and itchy. Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is a preservative.
Your doctor has prescribed Eptico D Eye/Ear Drops to cure your eye/ear infection and improve your symptoms. It should usually be used twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day. Wash your hands first before applying Eptico D Eye/Ear Drops. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye/ear or any other surface. If it does, squeeze out two or three drops straightaway onto some tissue and rinse the tip with saltwater. Do not use the medicine for a longer time without doctor consultation. Make sure not to use the open bottle for more than 4 weeks.
