Epsolin 100 Tablet is a prescription medicine used to treat and prevent epilepsy (seizures).

Epsolin 100 Tablet is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Epsolin 100 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Take your medication regularly as directed by your doctor as missing doses can trigger seizures. Do not change the brand of your medicine and make sure that you have sufficient amount of medicine present with you. It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. It may increase blood sugar levels. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines to treat diabetes. It may cause swollen gum (gum hypertrophy) hence take care of oral or dental hygiene.
On average, Epsolin 100 Tablet can stay in your system for 5-6 days. The duration varies from person to person; it may persist for about 9-10 days in some cases.
Abruptly stopping Epsolin 100 Tablet can cause status epilepticus (continuous seizures), which poses a serious risk to life. Consult your doctor before stopping the medication. Your doctor may gradually reduce the dose before discontinuing it completely.
Epsolin 100 Tablet overdose may trigger jerky eye movements (nystagmus), unclear speech, loss of balance, tremors, muscle stiffness or weakness, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, fainting, blurred vision, slow and shallow breathing, and even coma. Overdose can lead to very low blood pressure and respiratory complications, potentially leading to death.
You should not take Epsolin 100 Tablet if you have liver disease, especially if you've had a history of liver problems related to this medication. Also, patients currently on Delavirdine (a medicine used in HIV treatment) should not use Epsolin 100 Tablet. It can reduce the effectiveness of Delavirdine for HIV and may lead to drug resistance in the virus. It's crucial to inform your doctor about any pre-existing heart conditions before starting this medication.
Epsolin 100 Tablet can be taken alongside ibuprofen. No known drug interactions have been reported between the two medications. However, it's always advisable to consult your doctor before combining these medicines.
Common side effects in children taking Epsolin 100 Tablet include jerky eye movements (nystagmus) and overgrowth of the gums. Some children may experience issues with thinking or behavior, mood changes, slow or clumsy movements, or a loss of energy. Higher doses can cause unsteadiness in the feet and hands, sleepiness, and vomiting. These side effects are usually temporary when dosing is gradually adjusted.
No evidence suggests that Epsolin 100 Tablet causes weight gain. However, some long-term high-dose use may result in weight loss. If you notice unexplained weight changes after starting Epsolin 100 Tablet, consult your doctor for appropriate advice.
Epsolin 100 Tablet may induce drowsiness (sedation, somnolence, and fatigue). If you experience excessive sleepiness after taking it, particularly during the first weeks of treatment or following a dose increase, consult your doctor. They might advise against driving or operating machinery until they assess the impact on your alertness.
Epsolin 100 Tablet can significantly impact birth control methods. It may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives (birth control pills), making their contraceptive effect unreliable. Discuss your medication plan with your doctor if you require both medications to ensure you're using additional protection for contraception.
