Tablet
Epitome 50mg Tablet is an antiepileptic medication used to treat epilepsy (seizures) and to prevent migraines. It is also used in the treatment of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a rare, but severe form of epilepsy that starts in early childhood).
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Epitome 50mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Epitome 50mg Tablet is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Take your medication regularly as directed by your doctor as missing doses can trigger seizures. Do not change the brand of your medicine and make sure that you have sufficient amount of medicine present with you. Practice yoga every day. Get enough sleep at nighttime. Limit the use of screen time such as mobile/laptop. Take your medication on time. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day while taking Epitome 50mg Tablet. This can reduce the risk of kidney stones. Monitor your weight during treatment with this medicine as it can cause weight gain. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the seizure frequency.
The duration of treatment with Epitome 50mg Tablet depends on individual needs and clinical response. It is not a cure but rather a preventative measure against seizures or migraines, which may require continued use for months or even years depending on symptom progression and potential side effects.
Epitome 50mg Tablet is not indicated for the treatment of anxiety. Please consult your doctor before taking this medication.
Serious side effects related to Epitome 50mg Tablet are rare. Serious potential effects may include glaucoma (difficulty seeing, eye pain, and blurred vision), kidney stones (sharp pain in your sides or lower back), and metabolic acidosis (tiredness, loss of appetite, irregular and faint heartbeat). Other significant adverse effects may include suicidal thoughts and insufficient sweating (some children taking Epitome 50mg Tablet may not sweat enough in hot weather, potentially leading to elevated body temperature).
Epitome 50mg Tablet does not interfere with the mechanism of valproic acid, but it may increase the risk of hyperammonemia (excess ammonia levels in the blood). Hyperammonemia can cause cognitive impairment, including difficulties concentrating and remembering information. It can also lead to lethargy, fatigue, decreased alertness, and feelings of extreme sleepiness. If you notice any symptoms like these while taking both medications, inform your doctor immediately.
Epitome 50mg Tablet is prescribed for children older than two years who have seizures. However, due to limited clinical evidence regarding its use in managing migraines, further research is needed before recommending it for this specific condition.
It could be a potential side effect of Epitome 50mg Tablet as it is known to cause appetite reduction. If you are unsure, please speak with your doctor for personalized advice.
