Epitab 100mg Tablet is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. It is used to treat and prevent epilepsy (seizures).
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Epitab 100mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. It may increase blood sugar levels. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines to treat diabetes. It may cause swollen gum (gum hypertrophy) hence take care of oral or dental hygiene. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the seizure frequency.
Epitab 100mg Tablet can typically stay in your system for 5-6 days. However, this duration may vary from person to person and could extend up to 9-10 days in some cases.
Stopping Epitab 100mg Tablet suddenly can trigger a dangerous condition called status epilepticus, which could potentially be life-threatening. It's crucial to consult your doctor before making any changes to your medication regimen and they will guide you on how best to taper off the medication if necessary.
Overdose of Epitab 100mg Tablet can lead to nystagmus (jerky eye movements), unclear speech, loss of balance, tremor, muscle stiffness or weakness, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, fainting, blurred vision, slow and shallow breathing, coma. Additionally, overdose can result in severe drops in blood pressure and respiratory problems.
You should not take Epitab 100mg Tablet if you have liver disease, especially if you experience a history of liver complications related to it. Also, individuals taking Delavirdine (a medication used for HIV treatment) should avoid taking Epitab 100mg Tablet as it can decrease the effectiveness of Delavirdine and increase the risk of resistance.
Epitab 100mg Tablet can be combined with ibuprofen, but potential drug interactions should be discussed with your doctor before use. It's important to consult your doctor for guidance.
Common side effects in children include jerky eye movements (nystagmus) and overgrowth of their gums. In some cases, it may also cause problems with thinking or behavior, mood changes, slow or clumsy movement, or a decrease in energy. These side effects often subside when the dosage is gradually reduced.
Epitab 100mg Tablet has not been linked to weight gain, but prolonged use of a higher dose may cause unintentional weight loss. If you experience sudden changes in weight after taking the medication, consult your doctor.
Epitab 100mg Tablet can make you feel drowsy. If you experience excessive sleepiness after starting or increasing your dose of this medication, consult your doctor as they may advise against driving or operating machinery until your ability to perform these activities is confirmed.
Epitab 100mg Tablet can interfere with the effectiveness of oral contraceptives, which may make them less reliable. Discuss this situation with your doctor as they may advise about additional contraceptive measures.
