The medication works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, thereby curing the infection. Common side effects include headache, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain, which are usually temporary. Diarrhea may also occur but should resolve after completing the course. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and duration, and special care should be taken for individuals with kidney problems.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it whole without chewing, crushing, or breaking it. Emgat 400mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Gatifloxacin oral (tablet and suspension) and injection form has been withdrawn from the market due to incidences of abnormally high or low blood sugar levels in humans. Its ophthalmic form (eye drop) is available to treat bacterial infections of the eye and is considered safe for use.
