How it works
Elsolin D Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Dutasteride, which relieves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker, which works by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so as to allow easy passage of urine. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, which helps in shrinking the prostate gland by decreasing the level of the hormone which helps the prostate gland grow.

Frequently asked questions
Is Elsolin D Tablet effective?
Elsolin D Tablet is effective if used in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Elsolin D Tablet too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.
Can the use of Elsolin D Tablet cause dizziness?
Yes, the use of Elsolin D Tablet can cause dizziness. This is due to its combination of Tamsulosin and Dutasteride. Tamsulosin can cause a sudden fall in blood pressure while changing posture from lying to sitting or standing (orthostatic hypotension), which can lead to dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, spinning sensation, and vertigo. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, do not drive or use any machines. It is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.
What are the cautions associated with the use of Elsolin D Tablet?
The use of Elsolin D Tablet is considered harmful for men under 18 years old as it may affect normal male reproductive tract development. It is also harmful for patients with known allergies to any component of this medicine, and in pregnant women or those who are of childbearing potential. Remember that pregnant women should not even touch Elsolin D Tablet as it can be absorbed through the skin and harm the fetus.
Is Elsolin D Tablet safe?
Elsolin D Tablet is considered safe when used in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Take it exactly as directed, do not skip any doses, and follow your doctor's instructions carefully. If you experience any side effects, let your doctor know.
Can I take a higher than the recommended dose of this medicine?
No, Elsolin D Tablet should be taken at the recommended dose only. An overdose can increase the risks of side effects. Always take your medicines according to the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
What is the storage condition for Elsolin D Tablet?
Keep this medicine in its original container or pack, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions on the pack or label. Dispose of unused medication properly and do not give it to pets, children, or other people.
Can the use of Elsolin D Tablet cause ejaculation problems?
Retrograde ejaculation (semen does not leave the body, instead goes into the bladder) and ejaculation failure (reduced or absent ejaculation volume) are common problems associated with the use of Elsolin D Tablet. These issues are generally harmless but may occur more frequently when the medicine is taken at high doses.
Can the use of Elsolin D Tablet cause priapism?
Yes, the use of Elsolin D Tablet can cause priapism (painful, persistent penile erection unrelated to sexual activity). This is a serious but rare side effect. In some cases, it can lead to permanent impotence if not treated immediately. It's important to seek medical attention promptly in such cases.
Can the use of Elsolin D Tablet impact my cataract surgery?
The use of Elsolin D Tablet can cause floppy eye syndrome, where the muscles of the iris become loose and the pupil may constrict unexpectedly during cataract surgery. This can make it challenging for the surgeon to dilate the pupil properly during surgery. Always inform your ophthalmologist if you are taking this medicine or have used it in the last nine months.
Apart from taking medicines, what should I do to manage my prostate symptoms?
Simple lifestyle changes can help improve your prostate symptoms. Try to urinate when you first feel the urge. However, avoid straining or pushing during urination. Also, try to avoid drinking fluids (especially alcohol and caffeine) a few hours before bedtime or going out. If possible, seek advice from your doctor regarding any over-the-counter medications that may worsen urinary symptoms.
