Introduction
Elmox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Elmox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Elmox CV Dry Syrup?
Elmox CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to inform your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking before starting Elmox CV Dry Syrup. Additionally, check with your child's doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Elmox CV Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is best to delay vaccinations until your child recovers from any illness caused by the antibiotic use. Once your child feels better, they can receive the vaccine.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Elmox CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodic kidney and liver function tests may be performed during prolonged treatment to monitor your child's condition. These tests can help ensure the medication's efficacy and identify any potential complications.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Elmox CV Dry Syrup to my child?
No, exceeding the prescribed dosage of this medicine is not advisable. It can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased symptom severity, consult with their doctor for further assessment.
Can I stop giving Elmox CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue Elmox CV Dry Syrup unless the complete course of treatment is completed. Even if you feel your child's symptoms have subsided, the medication may still be providing benefits and preventing complications. Continue the prescribed dosage for the full duration.
Can the use of Elmox CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Elmox CV Dry Syrup can potentially cause diarrhea. This is because it targets harmful bacteria. The medication may also disrupt the balance of good bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. Encourage your child to consume adequate fluids if they experience this side effect. Seek medical guidance for persistent diarrhea and any signs of dehydration (reduced urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Avoid administering other medications without consulting a doctor.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral infections do not lead to secondary bacterial infections. In fact, giving antibiotics for a viral infection can increase the risk of developing side effects. Please consult with your child's doctor before administering any antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily signify a bacterial infection during a common cold. It's normal for mucus to thicken and change color during this period (from clear to yellow or green). The symptoms usually resolve within 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention for your child if they experience severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Though rare, these side effects are significant and require urgent medical care.
