Elbion M 500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body for red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Vitamin B12 is found naturally in animal-based foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. People who are vegetarian or vegan may not obtain enough Vitamin B12 from their diet because it is not naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and grains. This can lead to vitamin B12 deficiency.
Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition characterized by abnormally large red blood cells). Other symptoms include nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Individuals with Vitamin B12 deficiency might also experience symptoms such as balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness in the mouth or tongue.
Elbion M 500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur in some individuals. Discontinue using this medication immediately if a rash develops.
Elbion M 500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Elbion M 500mcg Injection) and is given three times a week.
