Frequently asked questions
What is Edycob 1500mcg Injection?
Edycob 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
You obtain Vitamin B12 from sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may not acquire enough Vitamin B12 as it is not naturally found in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. This can lead to deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). It can also lead to nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency may include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Edycob 1500mcg Injection safe?
Edycob 1500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare cases, side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia (loss of appetite), and rash have been reported. If a rash occurs, discontinue taking the medicine immediately.
How should Edycob 1500mcg Injection be given?
Edycob 1500mcg Injection can be administered directly into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Edycob 1500mcg Injection), and it is given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Edycob 1500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Edycob 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If there is intense pain while injecting or if blood flows back into the syringe, withdraw the needle and re-insert at a different site.
