Drocort Cream is a topical steroid used for treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema. It prevents the release of substances that cause inflammation and provides relief from swelling, redness, and itching in the affected area.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying unless hands are the affected area.
Drocort Cream is a steroid medicine which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.
It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily or as advised by your doctor. Don't use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you think the area of skin you are treating has become infected you should stop using Drocort Cream and consult your doctor. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
No, Drocort Cream should not be used on the face without consulting a physician. It is essential to follow the doctor's advice and use it only as directed. In some cases, the cream may be prescribed for facial use, but this should be limited to a maximum of 5 days.
Drocort Cream is not an antimicrobial or antifungal agent. It is a steroid medication that can suppress the immune system and increase the risk of infections. Bacterial infections may worsen if covered with a dressing after using Drocort Cream. If the inflammatory lesions get infected or there is any spread of infection, consult your doctor immediately.
Before using Drocort Cream, clean and dry the affected area. Gently massage it into the skin, being careful not to get the medication in your eyes or mouth. If Drocort Cream gets in your eyes accidentally, wash with plenty of water and call your doctor if your eyes are irritated.
No, do not stop taking Drocort Cream and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before your treatment is complete. Stopping Drocort Cream before your treatment is completed can bring back your symptoms of skin.
Drocort Cream should not be used on the face, axillae (armpits), groin, or if there is atrophy (wasting away of tissues) at the treatment site. Do not use the medication for longer periods of time than advised. Avoid applying a bandage or dressing to the area being treated, as this will increase absorption and risk of side-effects.
Drocort Cream should not be used in people who are allergic to Drocort Cream or any of its ingredients. It should also be avoided if a person has any kind of infection, is pregnant, planning a baby, or breastfeeding without consulting a doctor.
If you forget to use Drocort Cream, do not worry and continue using it as soon as you remember. However, if you are unsure and have any other doubts, please consult your doctor.
