Short Description

Doxacard 4 Tablet is an alpha-blocker used to treat high blood pressure, lower the risk of heart attack or stroke, and mild enlargement of the prostate gland in men.

Introduction

Doxacard 4 Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with other medicines. It can be taken with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Follow the advice of your doctor on what is right for you. You need to use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it so keep taking it even if you feel well. High blood pressure does not usually have symptoms. If you stop taking it, your blood pressure may rise and put you at risk of heart attack or stroke. You may need to take it for the rest of your life.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Doxacard 4 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Alcohol Warning

Doxacard 4 Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.

Breastfeeding Warning

Doxacard 4 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Pregnancy Warning

Doxacard 4 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Interacting Medicines

Atazanavir Fluconazole Indinavir Itraconazole

Doxacard 4 Tablet is an alpha-blocker. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. It also relaxes the muscles around the bladder exit and prostate, making it easier to urinate.

It may cause sudden drop in your blood pressure especially when you first start taking this medicine. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Do not consume alcohol while taking Doxacard 4 Tablet as it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine causing increased dizziness. Be cautious while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Inform your doctor that you are taking Doxacard 4 Tablet if you are scheduled for a cataract surgery.
