Dotdine MS Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Metronidazole, Sucralfate, and Povidone Iodine. Metronidazole is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA. Sucralfate is an anti-ulcer medicine which covers the damaged tissue and protects it against injury to facilitate healing. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms.

Dotdine MS Ointment may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Dotdine MS Ointment. Apply it as a thin layer onto clean, dry, unbroken skin affected by the infection. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas. It may cause minor burning, stinging, or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away. It is advisable not to touch or scratch the infected area as it can worsen the situation.
