Oral Suspension
Dorflox Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. This medicine is used to target the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Dorflox Oral Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Dorflox Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Dorflox Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Dorflox Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Giving extra doses of Dorflox Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause serious harm. However, if you think your child might have taken too much, contact a doctor immediately. Excessive amounts can lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of these symptoms.
If your child doesn't show signs of improvement despite taking Dorflox Oral Suspension for the prescribed time, it might indicate the medicine is not effective against the bacteria causing the infection. Visit your doctor to discuss other potential treatment options. Your doctor may suggest a different antibiotic that targets the specific bacteria responsible for the infection.
Dorflox Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Dorflox Oral Suspension, discuss all the medications your child is taking with their doctor. Always consult a doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Antibiotics do not generally interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is best to avoid administering vaccines until the child's illness is fully resolved and they are feeling better. Once your child recovers from their illness, the vaccine can be administered.
Inform your doctor if your child has any of the following conditions: heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sun allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. There is a chance that Dorflox Oral Suspension could worsen these pre-existing conditions and lead to complications.
