Frequently asked questions
What is Domicare 1500mcg Injection?
Domicare 1500mcg Injection is a type of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also helps release energy from food and use vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You may not be getting enough vitamin B12 through your diet. Vitamin B12 is found naturally in meat, fish, eggs and dairy products. However, those who follow vegetarian or vegan diets might not get enough due to the lack of natural vitamin B12 sources like fruits, vegetables and grains. This is why individuals following these dietary choices may develop a deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss and megaloblastic anemia (a condition when red blood cells become larger than normal). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include difficulties with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, sore mouth or tongue.
Is Domicare 1500mcg Injection safe?
Domicare 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some people may experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia or rash. If a rash occurs, discontinue taking the medication immediately.
How should Domicare 1500mcg Injection be given?
Domicare 1500mcg Injection can be administered either intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5mg of Domicare 1500mcg injection), and it is given three times a week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5mg of Domicare 1500mcg injection) is administered every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Domicare 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication in the same site each time. If you experience intense pain while injecting or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different location.
