Dersol 6% Ointment is an anti-bacterial medicine used to treat acne. It works by attacking the germs that cause acne.

Dersol 6% Ointment may be used alone or with other acne treatments. You should use it as your doctor's advice. The leaflet that comes with the product will also give instructions which you should read to get the most out of this medicine. You should normally wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of gel once or twice a day. You should not apply it to damaged or broken skin and avoid contact with your mouth, eyes, and nose. It may take several weeks for your symptoms to improve and several months to get maximum benefit but after you have used it for a month you should see your doctor again to check if your condition is improving.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.

Dersol 6% Ointment should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
Dersol 6% Ointment may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Dersol 6% Ointment is a keratolytic medication to be applied on the skin. It treats pimples (acne) by penetrating the skin and killing acne-causing bacteria. It additionally reduces oil production in the skin, replenishes acne-prone skin, and keeps your pores open.
Dersol 6% Ointment helps in the treatment and prevention of acne. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, and genitals. In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water. It makes your skin sensitive towards sunlight. Use protective measures like sunscreen or wear protective clothing. Inform your doctor if you notice unusual dryness, redness, and peeling of the skin. Do not apply to open wounds or irritated skin.
Before applying Dersol 6% Ointment, cleanse your skin by removing makeup and wash your hands thoroughly. Gently dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer of Dersol 6% Ointment cream to the entire affected skin area, avoiding individual spot application. After application, wash your hands thoroughly with water.
At the beginning of treatment, Dersol 6% Ointment is typically used once daily in the evening. The cream does not require washing off after application, so it can be left overnight unless you experience irritation. If experiencing irritation, consult your doctor.
Discontinue Dersol 6% Ointment and consult your doctor if you experience severe local irritation, indicated by redness, dryness, itching, stinging or burning sensations.
Use Dersol 6% Ointment only on your skin. Keep it away from areas like your eyes, eyelids, lips, mouth and inside of the nose. If the medicine comes in contact with any of these areas, wash the affected area immediately with water. Avoid using Dersol 6% Ointment on scratched or eroded skin and open wounds. Use Dersol 6% Ointment cautiously on sensitive areas like your neck. Dersol 6% Ointment can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Therefore, avoid sunbeds/lamps and minimize time spent in the sun. Apply sunscreen and wear protective clothing while using Dersol 6% Ointment. Avoid contact with hair as Dersol 6% Ointment has bleaching properties; it may even bleach dyed or colored fabric, furniture or carpeting.
The initial dose is best used once daily in the evening. Your doctor will gradually increase the dosage to twice daily (morning and evening) during follow-up visits.
You may notice improvement after 4-6 weeks of treatment. However, for significant acne reduction, it might take approximately 8 weeks of regular use.
Dersol 6% Ointment typically starts clearing acne within a few days. However, significant results may take around 8 weeks of consistent use.
Inform your doctor if acne does not improve after completing the full course of treatment. If your symptoms are worsening while on this medication, contact your doctor immediately.
