Derivent E Tablet is a combination of two bronchodilators (Etofylline and Salbutamol) and an expectorant (Guaifenesin). The bronchodilators work by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widening the airways. Guaifenesin works by decreasing the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways.
You have been prescribed Derivent E Tablet for the treatment of asthma. It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you. If at any time your breathing gets worse, please contact your doctor or nurse for advice straightaway. Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, or diabetes. Do not smoke. Smoking causes irritation and damage to the lungs and will make your condition worse.
