Frequently asked questions
How long can you stay on Denaxa Injection?
The duration of treatment with Denaxa Injection is not predetermined, and its use is determined by the patient's response and tolerability. Regular assessments are performed to monitor these factors, including after 5 years of use.
Does Denaxa Injection cause hair loss?
Hair loss may occur as a side effect of Denaxa Injection, though it is not universal. Consult your doctor if you experience any concerns about hair loss.
Is Denaxa Injection a chemotherapy drug?
Denaxa Injection is not a chemotherapy drug. It is a protein (monoclonal antibody) that inhibits the action of another protein to treat bone loss and osteoporosis. This treatment strengthens bones and reduces their risk of fracture.
How is Denaxa Injection given and how often?
Denaxa Injection is administered as an injection by a healthcare professional. The recommended administration frequency is once every 6 months, depending on the patient's individual needs. Your doctor may also recommend calcium and vitamin D supplementation alongside Denaxa Injection.
Can Denaxa Injection be taken during pregnancy?
No, pregnant women should not use Denaxa Injection. Effective birth control measures must be used for at least 5 months after the last dose to prevent potential pregnancy during treatment.
How should Denaxa Injection be stored?
Denaxa Injection should be stored in a refrigerator (36°F to 46°F or 2°C to 8°C) within the original container. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures may render it ineffective. Upon removal from refrigeration, store at room temperature (up to 77°F or 25°C) in the original carton for up to 14 days.
Does Denaxa Injection cause osteonecrosis of the jaw?
Osteonecrosis is a rare side effect of Denaxa Injection. It refers to bone damage within the jaw. Good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are crucial for mitigating this risk. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any concerning symptoms such as loose teeth, discharge, pain or swelling, or non-healing sores in your mouth or jaw. These could indicate a potential osteonecrosis of the jaw.
