Delpride M 2mg/500mg Tablet belongs to a category of medicines known as anti-diabetic drugs. It is a combination of two medicines, Glimepiride and Metformin, used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Glimepiride increases insulin release from the pancreas, while Metformin lowers glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and increases the body's sensitivity to insulin. This combination helps control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. However, it can cause hypoglycemia, especially when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or if meals are delayed or missed. It may also cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels and liver function is advised.
