Oral Suspension
Defispas Oral Suspension is commonly given to treat stomach pain, bloating, and abdominal cramps, and pain associated with excessive acidity, gas, infections, and gastrointestinal tract diseases. It also controls symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. It relaxes the muscles of the gut and absorbs the extra gas.
Inform your doctor if you experience severe or long-lasting pain in your stomach. Give your child a diet that is rich in fiber and low in fermentable sugars. Avoid giving gas-producing foods to your child such as beans, onions, carrots, raisins, and bananas. Encourage your child to exercise daily as it has potential benefits in constipation and in improving overall wellbeing.
Defispas Oral Suspension is a mixture of two active medicines Dicyclomine, an antispasmodic agent, and Simethicone, an antifoaming medicine. Dicyclomine works by relaxing the muscles in your stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms) thereby relieving abdominal cramps and pain. Whereas, Simethicone disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

Give Defispas Oral Suspension only if your child shows actual signs of abdominal discomfort or pain after consulting your child’s doctor.
Abdominal pain accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and photophobia may suggest the presence of abdominal migraine, characterized by recurring episodes of dull or moderate to severe abdominal pain lasting at least six months. It often occurs centrally or in a localized area. In addition to these symptoms, anorexia, headache, and pallor are commonly reported with this condition. Before administering Defispas Oral Suspension, it's crucial to rule out the possibility of abdominal migraine.
A routine examination may include an abdominal ultrasound for a comprehensive assessment. In cases of more serious abdominal concerns, endoscopy and esophageal pH monitoring might be necessary. Your doctor will advise the appropriate tests based on your child's condition.
Defispas Oral Suspension should be avoided in cases of obstructive and inflammatory digestive tract disorders, including heartburn, unstable cardiovascular diseases, obstructive uropathy, glaucoma, muscle weakness disorder, liver impairment, hyperthyroidism, neuropathy, and kidney impairment. These conditions can potentially lead to complications when using this medication.
Defispas Oral Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. It's crucial to inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before initiating Defispas Oral Suspension. Additionally, always consult your child’s physician before administering any new medication.
Defispas Oral Suspension should be stored at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It's important to keep all medications out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
