Debrifree Ointment is a combination of papain and urea. Papain and urea dissolve the keratin protein present on the outer layer of skin, remove dead skin cells, and improve healing of wounds.
If you are allergic to any ingredients in Debrifree Ointment, do not use the product. If you are not sure, please consult a dermatologist. Do not let it get in contact with the eyes, ears, nose, or mouth. Rinse it with water if it accidentally gets in these specific areas. Before you apply Debrifree Ointment, wash the area and gently dry it with a towel. Continue with the treatment as long as prescribed by your doctor. The most common reason for treatment failure is giving up too soon and thinking the treatment is not working. If your skin has not improved even after completing the prescribed time, consult your doctor.
Before applying this medicine, clean the affected area with saline or a mild wound-cleansing solution recommended by your doctor. Apply the ointment directly to the wound and cover it with an appropriate dressing. Secure the dressing in place. You may change the dressing 1 to 2 times per day if possible.
It is advisable to avoid applying other creams on the affected area while using this ointment unless directed by your doctor. If you are prescribed other skin creams or ointments alongside Debrifree Ointment, ensure there is a 30-minute interval between both medications.
Debrifree Ointment is for topical use (skin only). Avoid its use on open cuts, infected skin, and eyes, nose, mouth, or genitals. It may increase sun sensitivity. Therefore, always wear sunscreen and protective clothing during treatment.
You should avoid using hydrogen peroxide solution for cleaning the affected area as it might deactivate papain, a component of Debrifree Ointment.
Yes, you may experience a slight burning sensation after applying Debrifree Ointment as papain present in the ointment works on your wound. More frequent dressing changes can reduce discomfort.
