Paracetamol (250mg)
Day Syrup is a widely prescribed medicine that helps to ease pain and bring down high body temperature (fever).
Syrup
Day Syrup is commonly used to treat pain and fever in children. It is effective for conditions such as headache, toothache, body ache, fever, and common cold. The syrup works by blocking certain chemical messengers in the brain that signal pain and fever. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and consult a doctor if the symptoms persist. Overdosing or combining it with other medications containing paracetamol can lead to serious side effects.
Give Day Syrup to your child with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. Do not exceed four doses in 24 hours and wait up to 6 hours between doses.
Day Syrup possesses analgesic (pain-reliever) and antipyretic (lowers body temperature) properties. It provides relief by blocking certain chemical messengers and pathways in the brain that send signals about pain and fever.
Give Day Syrup to your child with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. Your child should not take more than four doses of this medicine in 24 hours, so wait up to 6 hours between doses. Never give any other medicine formulation containing paracetamol along with this medicine as that may lead to serious side effects. Inform the doctor if your child has liver disease as the dose may need to be adjusted. If Day Syrup does not seem to be helping your child, contact your doctor for advice. Do not give extra doses.
Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and frequency. This depends on the strength of the medicine and your child's age. Refer to the label or leaflet for specific directions before use. The commonly recommended dose is 10-15 mg/kg per dose every 4 to 6 hours. If unsure, consult your child’s doctor.
Day Syrup usually starts working within 30 to 60 minutes of intake and shows peak effect within 3 to 4 hours. Your child may start feeling better after a few doses. If symptoms persist longer, consult your child’s doctor immediately.
If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking Day Syrup, repeat the dose. If it has been more than 30 minutes and your child vomits, no need to repeat the dose, wait until next scheduled dose time. For further guidance consult your child’s doctor.
You can give this medicine if your child has a temperature of 38.3°C (101°F) or higher. However, always consult your child's doctor before administering the medication.
If the fever doesn't come down after initial doses, it could be an infection (virus or bacteria). It is advised to consult your child’s doctor for proper treatment.
You should not exceed four doses of Day Syrup in a 24-hour period. Ensure there are at least 4-6 hour gaps between two doses. Do not take it for more than three days without consulting your doctor. Overdosing can lead to serious liver and kidney damage, even if your child appears healthy; contact your doctor immediately.
Unless directed by your doctor, your child should maintain a normal balanced diet during treatment. It is important not to withhold nutrients as it can increase the risk of medication toxicity.
Store this medicine at room temperature in a dry, out-of-reach place from children.
Day Syrup may require caution if your child has malnutrition, G6PD deficiency, liver disease or any known allergies to medication. For proper guidance on its safe use, consult your doctor for a complete medical history assessment.
Day Syrup does not typically interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received one. However, it's best to allow your child to recover from the current illness before administering any medication. Once they are feeling better, you can give the vaccine.
