Introduction
Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Frequently asked questions
Can other medications be taken at the same time as Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup?
It's crucial to inform your child's doctor about all other medicines or substances they are taking before starting Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup. Consulting with a healthcare professional is essential for safe administration of medications.
Can I vaccinate my child while on treatment with Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines, and there's typically no adverse reaction in children after vaccination. However, if your child is experiencing an illness, waiting until they are healthy again before administering any new medication is recommended. Once their condition improves, the vaccine can be administered as usual.
Which lab tests may my child undergo on a long-term basis while taking Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup?
Periodically, your doctor might order kidney and liver function tests to monitor your child's overall health throughout extended treatment with Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup.
Can I give a higher dose of Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup to my child than the recommended amount?
Giving a dosage higher than the prescribed amount can lead to an increased risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
When should I stop giving Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup to my child?
Do not discontinue this medication unless the entire course of treatment is completed. Even if you feel that their condition has improved, continued use may help to achieve complete healing as well.
Can Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup cause diarrhea in children?
Yes, Dalmox CV DS Dry Syrup can induce diarrhea in some patients. It's important to note that this medicine contains an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria and might also disrupt the balance of good bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids to manage this side effect. Consult your doctor if the diarrhea persists or if you notice signs of dehydration like decreased urination with dark-colored urine.
Do all common colds require antibiotic treatment?
Most cold cases do not result in bacterial infection. In fact, using antibiotics during a viral infection may increase your child's risk of side effects. It's best to consult with their doctor for appropriate treatment decisions.
Is there any indication that my child's mucus is yellow-green and needs immediate medical attention?
Yellow or green nasal discharge does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection, particularly in children experiencing common colds. The mucus can thicken during this time, and symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case of severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting), contact your child's doctor immediately.
What are the signs that require immediate medical attention for my child?
Call your child's doctor right away if they experience severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). It's important to seek immediate medical attention in case of such complications.
