D Derm KT Cream is a combination of five medicines: Clobetasol, Gentamicin, Clioquinol (Iodochlorhydroxyquin), Ketoconazole, and Tolnaftate. Clobetasol is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Gentamicin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Ketoconazole, Clioquinol, and Tolnaftate are antifungal medicines. Ketoconazole kills and stops the growth of the fungi by destroying its cell membrane, thereby treating your skin infection. Clioquinol acts by interacting with DNA synthesis thus killing the fungi that are responsible for causing the infection. Tolnaftate prevents growth of fungal cell-wall. It also prevents forming fungal colonies. This is how it causes death of fungi and relieves your infection.
D Derm KT Cream may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying D Derm KT Cream. Apply it as a thin layer onto clean, dry, unbroken skin affected by an infection. It may cause minor burning, stinging, or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas. It is advisable not to touch or scratch the infected area as it can worsen the situation.
