Introduction
Cytax-Nab Injection is given as an injection by a trained healthcare professional. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. It should be used exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but the treatment should not be stopped unless your doctor tells you to.
Directions for Use
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self-administer.
How it works
Cytax-Nab Injection is a combination of two medicines: paclitaxel and albumin. Paclitaxel works by stopping cancer cells from separating into two new cells. This blocks the growth of the cancer. Albumin works by replacing the blood or body fluids lost due to excessive bleeding, surgery, or kidney dialysis.
Quick Tips
Cytax-Nab Injection may cause birth defects if either the male or female is treated with it at the time of conception. You should use some kind of birth control while being treated with this medicine and for at least 12 weeks after you stop using it. If you receive Cytax-Nab Injection in combination with gemcitabine, infections can be severe and lead to death. Tell your doctor immediately if you have a fever (temperature greater than 100.4° F) or develop signs of infection. Be careful when using a toothbrush, toothpick, or dental floss. Your doctor, dentist, or nurse may recommend other ways to clean your teeth and gums. Also, avoid contact sports or other situations where you may bruise or get injured since this medicine increases the risk of bleeding. To reduce nausea, take anti-nausea medications as prescribed by your doctor and eat small, frequent meals. Decreased sensation, numbness, and tingling in fingers and toes may worsen with repeated doses of this medicine. Protect yourself from injury if you have numb hands or feet and report this to your doctor. If you are undergoing any surgery, let the surgeon or anesthetist know that you are being treated with Cytax-Nab Injection since it may affect other medicines used during surgery.
