Key Information

Short Description

Cupira 25mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat epilepsy (seizures) and to prevent migraines.

Dosage Form

Tablet

Introduction

Cupira 25mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat epilepsy (seizures) and to prevent migraines. It is also used in the treatment of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a rare, but severe form of epilepsy that starts in early childhood).

Directions for Use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Cupira 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works

Cupira 25mg Tablet is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Quick Tips

Take your medication regularly as directed by your doctor as missing doses can trigger seizures. Do not change the brand of your medicine and make sure that you have sufficient amount of medicine present with you. Practice yoga every day. Get enough sleep at nighttime. Limit the use of screen time such as mobile/laptop. Take your medication on time. It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day while taking Cupira 25mg Tablet. This can reduce the risk of kidney stones. Monitor your weight during treatment with this medicine as it can cause weight gain. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the seizure frequency.

How long should I take Cupira 25mg Tablet?

The duration of treatment with Cupira 25mg Tablet is determined by your healthcare provider based on individual needs and the severity of the condition. It's important to follow your doctor's instructions regarding medication usage as it does not cure seizures or migraines, but rather helps prevent them from occurring.

Cupira 25mg Tablet is not indicated for the treatment of anxiety. Consult your healthcare provider before using it for any other purpose than as directed by a doctor.

What are the serious side effects of Cupira 25mg Tablet?

Serious side effects of Cupira 25mg Tablet are rare. These can include glaucoma (difficulty seeing, eye pain, and blurred vision), kidney stones (sharp pain in your sides or lower back), and metabolic acidosis (tiredness, loss of appetite, irregular and faint heartbeat). Other serious side effects may include suicidal thoughts and insufficient sweating (some children taking Cupira 25mg Tablet may not sweat enough in hot weather, causing their body temperatures to rise). It's important to note that these potential side effects may not occur in all individuals.

Will using Cupira 25mg Tablet affect the effectiveness of valproic acid treatment for seizures? Can I take them together?

Cupira 25mg Tablet does not interfere with the functioning of valproic acid, but it does increase the risk of excessive ammonia levels in the blood (hyperammonemia). High ammonia levels can be dangerous and may lead to difficulties with thinking, memory, problem-solving, alertness, and a feeling of extreme tiredness. If you experience any of these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately. While rare, Cupira 25mg Tablet alone can cause hyperammonemia.

Can Cupira 25mg Tablet be used for children?

Cupira 25mg Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of seizures in children over 2 years old. However, this medication isn't recommended for the treatment of migraines in children.

I am experiencing weight loss since starting Cupira 25mg Tablet, is it because of this medicine?
