Crotol HC Cream is a combination of two medicines: Hydrocortisone and Crotamiton. Hydrocortisone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Crotamiton is an antiparasitic which works by killing the tiny insects (mites) and their eggs which cause scabies.
Apply a thin layer of this medicine all over the body and leave it for 8-14 hours before taking a bath or shower. You will still be itchy for a while after successful treatment. If the itching becomes troublesome to you, consult your doctor to ease this. Moisturizing creams can provide temporary relief from itching. Clothes, towels, and bed linen should be machine-washed with hot water after the first application of treatment. This helps kill the scabies mites.
