Frequently asked questions
Can Cortirate Cream be used for a long time?
No, Cortirate Cream should not be used for prolonged periods. The prescribed duration is typically two consecutive weeks. However, chronic inflammatory conditions may warrant extended treatment with the physician's guidance. Consult your healthcare professional before continuing use.
Does Cortirate Cream cause severe skin reactions?
Severe skin reactions are uncommon with Cortirate Cream. It's an anti-inflammatory medication primarily used to address skin diseases, reactions, and eczema. However, individuals with hypersensitivity may experience adverse reactions. Leaving the affected area exposed after application is crucial to prevent occlusive dressings (air and watertight) which can worsen or cause reactions. The medicine itself might not trigger a reaction, but specific excipients in the formulation could lead to an allergic response in some cases. If you experience any skin reactions, inform your doctor immediately.
Can Cortirate Cream be used on the face?
Cortirate Cream should not be used on the face. In addition, it's not recommended for use on the armpits (axillae), groin, or areas with existing tissue atrophy. There are limited circumstances where a doctor may consider its use after consultation and in these cases, its application is restricted to a maximum of five days. Consult your doctor before any other applications.
Can Cortirate Cream be applied to children?
Cortirate Cream is not recommended for use in children under one year of age. It's also not recommended for older children and adolescents due to increased side effects in these groups. In the pediatric population, there is a heightened risk of immune system suppression which may increase susceptibility to other diseases and atrophy. The medicine should only be used with guidance from your healthcare professional after careful evaluation. Typically treatment is limited to five days and reviewed weekly.
Can we use Cortirate Cream in infections?
Cortirate Cream is not an antimicrobial or antifungal agent; it's a corticosteroid medication. It's not intended for treating infections as using it suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of infection worsening. Bacterial infections may be more likely to worsen if the infected area is covered with dressing following Cortirate Cream application. If inflammatory lesions become infected or there is an indication of widespread infection, consult your doctor immediately.
Can I stop taking Cortirate Cream when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue Cortirate Cream before its full course is completed even if you experience symptom improvement. The medication's full course may need to be finished even when the condition improves, as stopping prematurely can trigger a recurrence of symptoms.
Does Cortirate Cream cause dangerous skin reactions?
Localized skin reactions are uncommon with Cortirate Cream. It's an anti-inflammatory medication primarily used for skin diseases, reactions, and eczema. However, individuals with hypersensitivity may experience adverse reactions. Leaving the affected area exposed after application is crucial to prevent occlusive dressings (air and watertight) which can worsen or cause reactions. If not by the medicine itself, sometimes the reactions are also caused by specific excipients in the formulation which could trigger allergic responses.
