Frequently asked questions
Can Cortifin Cream be used for a long time?
Cortifin Cream should not be used for extended periods, with treatment typically lasting no more than two consecutive weeks. For chronic inflammatory conditions, the duration of treatment may be longer under medical supervision. Consult your physician before using this medication.
Does Cortifin Cream cause severe skin reactions?
Severe skin reactions are uncommon with Cortifin Cream. It is an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat skin conditions, skin reactions, and eczemas. However, individuals who are hypersensitive to Cortifin Cream may experience a reaction. To minimize the risk of reactions, leave the affected area uncovered after application. Using occlusive dressings (air- and water-tight dressings) can potentially lead to these reactions. It is essential to inform your doctor immediately if you experience any skin reactions, as this could be triggered by additives in the medication or other factors.
Can Cortifin Cream be used on the face?
No, Cortifin Cream should not be applied to the face. Additionally, it should not be applied to the armpits (axillae), groin, or if there is atrophy (wasting away of tissues) at the treatment site. While using this medication in certain circumstances may be possible under medical supervision with your doctor's approval, its application on the face should be limited to a maximum duration of 5 days.
Can Cortifin Cream be used on children?
Cortifin Cream is not recommended for children under one year of age. It's also not recommended for older children and adolescents because side effects are more common in them. The use of this medication in children has a high risk of suppressing the immune system, making them more susceptible to other diseases and atrophy. In rare cases, a doctor may prescribe this medicine, but the treatment is typically limited to 5 days, and it's reviewed weekly.
Can we use Cortifin Cream in infections?
Cortifin Cream is not an antimicrobial or antifungal agent. It is a corticosteroid medication designed for treating skin conditions. It should not be used in infections as it suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of infections worsening. Bacterial infections should be treated with appropriate antibiotics, as using Cortifin Cream can worsen them. If inflammatory lesions become infected or if there is any spread of infection, consult your doctor immediately. They will discontinue the use of Cortifin Cream and prescribe appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
Can I stop taking Cortifin Cream when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop taking Cortifin Cream even if you feel better. Finish the full course of treatment as instructed by your doctor because your symptoms may improve before completing the treatment. Stopping Cortifin Cream prematurely can lead to a return of your symptoms.
Does Cortifin Cream cause dangerous skin reactions?
Local skin reactions are rare with Cortifin Cream. It is an anti-inflammatory drug used for treating skin conditions, but it's important to be aware that individuals who are hypersensitive to Cortifin Cream can experience reactions. To avoid these reactions, ensure the affected area is left uncovered after applying the cream. Using occlusive dressings (air- and water-tight dressings) may increase the risk of reactions and should only be done if absolutely necessary, with your doctor's approval.
