Frequently asked questions
What is Conicobal 1500 Injection?
Conicobal 1500 Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body requires to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from various sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians or vegans may not get enough vitamin B12 as it is not found naturally in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency of Vitamin B12 is more likely to occur in those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It can also cause nerve problems, such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include problems with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sores on the mouth or tongue.
Is Conicobal 1500 Injection safe?
Conicobal 1500 Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, some rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash have been observed in certain individuals. If a rash appears, discontinue the use of the medication immediately.
How should Conicobal 1500 Injection be administered?
Conicobal 1500 Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Conicobal 1500 Injection), and it is given three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Conicobal 1500 Injection) is administered once every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Conicobal 1500 Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If there's intense pain while injecting, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
