Introduction

Comcef O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections affecting various parts of a child's body, such as the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bones, joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It is also effective in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents. It is crucial to complete the entire course of antibiotics to prevent the bacteria from multiplying again, becoming resistant, or causing another infection. This medicine should be given with food to avoid an upset stomach, and plenty of water should be encouraged if diarrhea develops as a side effect. Avoid giving calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamins, or antacids within 2 hours of taking this medicine as they can affect its absorption. This medicine should not be used for viral infections like the common cold and flu.

Comcef O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime prevents the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall), while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. This stops the bacteria from growing further and successfully arrests the spread of the infection.

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Comcef O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
