Oral Suspension
Coldyne Oral Suspension is a combination of three medicines: Cetirizine, Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine. It is commonly prescribed in children to relieve symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, watery eyes, sore throat, body ache, and fever. These symptoms are usually associated with common cold, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), and other respiratory tract conditions.
Do not give Coldyne Oral Suspension if your child is less than 2 years of age. Consult your child’s doctor before giving such medicines.
Coldyne Oral Suspension is a combination of three medicines: Cetirizine, Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine. Cetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks histamine (a chemical messenger) to relieve allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
Do not give Coldyne Oral Suspension if your child is less than 2 years of age. Consult your child’s doctor before giving such medicines. Coldyne Oral Suspension may make your child feel sleepy. Ensure your child takes extra care when taking part in physical activities. Never combine Coldyne Oral Suspension with other cold and flu medicines as that may lead to side effects. Stop Coldyne Oral Suspension and immediately report to the doctor if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties. Practice self-care tips: clean and disinfect surfaces after sneezing and coughing, give your child plenty of fluids, restrain your child from having caffeinated products and foods that are spicy and fried, make your child gargle with warm saltwater, and ensure your child takes enough rest.
A common cold is a respiratory illness that usually resolves on its own within about one week. If you are seeking to alleviate your child's discomfort, consult with their healthcare provider regarding the most appropriate approach for faster recovery. If your child's cold symptoms do not improve or worsen, contact their doctor promptly. Persistent coughing may signal a more serious condition like bronchitis or asthma.
Accidental ingestion of excessive Coldyne Oral Suspension can lead to severe side effects, including seizures, psychiatric disturbances, urinary retention, hand shaking, blurred vision, severe abdominal pain, and rapid heart rate. In such cases, immediately contact your child's healthcare provider.
It is essential to inform your child's healthcare provider about all other medications they are taking before starting Coldyne Oral Suspension. It is also crucial to seek guidance from the doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Do not administer Coldyne Oral Suspension to children experiencing seizures. In addition, avoid using this medication for children with cardiovascular disease (hypertension, heart disease), diabetes mellitus, gastrointestinal obstruction, increased intraocular pressure, urinary obstruction, or thyroid dysfunction. Always inform your child's doctor of any medical conditions and seek their guidance before giving Coldyne Oral Suspension for any medical concerns.
Coldyne Oral Suspension may cause mild sedation, potentially leading to sleepiness. However, do not use this medicine to induce sleep. Forcing sleep could mask underlying sleep disorders such as insomnia. Consulting with your child's doctor is crucial before administering the medication.
Coldyne Oral Suspension should be stored at room temperature in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat. Ensure that all medications are kept out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
