Codylex Expectorant is a combination of three medications: Ambroxol, Levosalbutamol / Levalbuterol, and Guaifenesin. It's used to treat coughs accompanied by mucus. Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic, thinning and loosening the mucus for easier expelling. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes airway muscles and widens them. Guaifenesin functions as an expectorant, reducing the stickiness of mucus and facilitating its removal from airways.
Codylex Expectorant is generally considered safe for most patients. However, some may experience common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, allergic reactions, dizziness, headache, rash, urticaria, tremor, palpitations, muscle cramps, and increased heart rate. Seek medical attention if you encounter any persistent problems while using this medication.
Codylex Expectorant is unsafe for patients with a history of allergy to any active or inactive ingredients. Levosalbutamol and beta-blockers like propranolol should not usually be taken together.
