Frequently asked questions
What is Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection?
Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient necessary for the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why am I unable to get sufficient Vitamin B12 through my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found naturally in foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians and vegans may experience difficulty obtaining vitamin B12 since it's not naturally present in plant-based sources such as fruits, vegetables, or grains. As a result, vegetarians and vegans are at risk for vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have Vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also cause nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, memory issues, and sores in the mouth or tongue.
Is Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection safe?
Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash. If a rash develops, discontinue the use of this medication immediately.
How should Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection be administered?
Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection can be injected either directly into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly). A standard dose of 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection) is typically administered three times weekly. After two months, an additional dose of 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection) every one to three months may be required as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken while administering Cobalsin 2500mcg Injection?
For optimal results, administer the injection at a different site each time. If injecting causes intense pain or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at another location to minimize discomfort.
