Frequently asked questions
What is Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection?
Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why might I not be getting enough vitamin B12 from my diet?
Vitamin B12 can be found in animal products like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. People who are vegetarian or vegan may have difficulty obtaining sufficient Vitamin B12 as it is not naturally found in many plant-based foods. Therefore, vegetarians and vegans may be at risk for a vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
A lack of Vitamin B12 can cause tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia. In this condition, red blood cells become abnormally large, potentially leading to complications. It may also lead to nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness in the mouth or tongue.
Is Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection safe?
Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. In case of a rash, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection can be given intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule of 0.5 mg of Cobaldin 1500mcg, and it's administered three times weekly. After two months, administer 1 ampoule every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting Cobaldin 1500mcg Injection into the same location repeatedly. If intense pain is felt during injection or blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
