Frequently asked questions
What is Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection?
Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 plays an essential role in red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also helps release energy from food and utilize vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why may I have difficulty getting enough vitamin B12 through my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found in animal products such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians or vegans might not get enough Vitamin B12 because it's not naturally present in plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, a vitamin B12 deficiency may be common in vegetarians or vegans.
What can happen if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
A vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to tiredness and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include problems with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, memory problems, and a sore mouth or tongue.
Is Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection safe?
Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash might occur. Discontinue use of this medicine if a rash develops.
How should Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection can be administered by injection into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection), given three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken while administering Cobalan Plus 1500mcg Injection?
Do not inject the same location repeatedly. If there's intense pain during injection or backflow of blood into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject at a different site.
